What?
Audacity is a fantastic, free, fully-featured audio editor. In these posts I’ll be using it for all sorts of things but first of all, here’s how to get going really quickly and easily with some basic recording and uploading to the Audioboo.fm site so you can embed your audio on a web page or in a blog post.
Why?
You can record audio directly onto websites like Audioboo.fm and you already have programs on your computer which allow you to record audio. However, Audacity is such a flexible, powerful tool that it’s worth finding out a bit about it so you can create some amazing things with comparatively little time and effort.
How?
Download Audacity from here and install it just like any other application. Open it up and you are ready to check some settings and make your first recording.

Once you have your .wav file, a really easy way to get it online is to use Audioboo.fm. Sign up for an account or if you’re on Twitter, log in with your Twitter account details.
