I thought about going to a Rick Wakeman gig here in Cheltenham. However, there’s no way I’ll pay £52 for that, even though it is within walking distance of my house.

I went to a King Arthur gig in Leeds when the album came out in the late 70s. It was good fun. I had a radio recording of one of the other concerts on a reel to reel tape. I wonder if he’ll make the same joke about rigor mortis

Hi Ken, I think you are correct judging by this clip “songs From Tsongas” 2004 I found on you tube of Ritual http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwFgcc6CDhU

See especially at 1:42 apparently for this version of Ritual they needed Alan(regular drum kit), Chris(kettle drums) and Jon(various) on drums and the weird glowing robotic drums with yellow beaters! I honestly don’t think it made it better than just Alan on his own.

Hi Kevin. I’m pretty sure the tour with the ridiculous robotic drums (and Roger Dean balloons) was the 35th anniversary tour in 2004. I was lucky enough to see them twice on that tour .

Thanks Miguel – great to spot that Squire instrument! I wonder how many times the musicians swapped pedals like that – Astral Traveller uses wah on the vocals?

Ah – yes, thanks Russell. I was looking a the comments in a different place. This is indeed a lovely version foreshadows the Yes Acoustic version. I also love Moraz’s solo. As I have said before, I wonder what would have happened if he had stayed!

Another interesting aspect of the original studio version seems to be the use of a wah effect with the electric piano sound.

Russell came first for that reminder. It’s a great version. It’s transposed to a lower key and Chris Squire plays an acoustic Rickenbacker 6 string guitar.
